this is a classic italian aperitif (the bitterness of the campari helps get the digestive juices flowing) and is just perfect one a warm sunny day, when you want something long and chilled to cool you down.

it’s wonderfully easy to make – pour 1½ shots of campari into an ice-filled glass, add 1½ shots of sweet vermouth, then top up with soda water and stir. garnish with an orange slice.
